LibreOffice and Open Source Conference Luxembourg 2024
Hiho good people,
This post aims to provide some feedback on our presentation and presence at the LibreOffice and Open Source Conference held in Luxembourg on the 10th and 11th of October this year.
First of all, the conference was a true success: the venue is amazing, with nice presentations and updates from a wide range of actors – from various grassroot communities to state entities and European initiatives. It provided a blend of different perspectives and contexts to enrich discussions around a common goal and topic: open source, and how we can make it thrieve.
We had the opportunity (and privilege), with my colleague @flzara, to present the OSPO Alliance and its Good Governance Handbook, and how organisations can better collaborate and contribute back to the ecosystem. In a nutshell, the presentation goes from awareness and educating people (mostly internal activities) to contributing back (code, issues, money), up to a deeper and more active participation in the ecosystem (attending conferences & public support). We also went through a few real-life examples of large organisations implementing these open source good practices.
You can download the slides here.
The full list of – recommended – talks from the OSPO track included:
- The Open Source Ecosystem Enabler project from ITU United Nations, by David Manset.
- The Role of OSPOs in the Open Source Ecosystem, by the OSPO Alliance team.
- The SnT OSPO by Jacek Plucinski.
- Uniting Danish Municipalities: A Digital Revolution through Open Source, by Rasmus Frey.
- Czech OSPO, start and way forward, by Jiří Marek.
- How can we do more with less: Transforming challenges into opportunities, by Maria Dalhage and Josef Andersson.
This track led to very interesting and healthy discussions around the practices that help spreading awareness within organisations, the painpoints and pitfalls, and how each actor can collaborate and contribute back to the ecosystem for the benefits of all.
